Second, next Thursday and Sunday, Nov 9 and 12, will be the closing days of this season’s CSA. Please bring back all vases and baskets (if you have basket/vase donations, they are greatly appreciated). Mike is never disappointed with this announcement but I have mixed emotions. I am always sorry to see this joyful activity go but I do enjoy the rest and winter, with all its attendant darkness and cold.
Today you’ll have leeks, garlic Chinese chives, smooth German kale, sage, peppermint and spearmint, dill, oregano, thyme, cilantro, Kellogg Breakfast tomato, Sicilian Rosso tomato, Martino Roma tomato, Mexican Midget tomato, arugula, Tat soi, Scarlet Ohno Revival Turnip, Des Vertus Marteau turnip, Celestra radish; Satsumaimo, Jewel, and Hannah sweet potato (there are a lot Ostergruss radish, Swarzer Runder radish; mini green pepper, and assorted tasty apples (not sprayed) courtesy of friend and neighbor Jim Howell.
There are a lot of green tomatoes and your choices aren’t limited to fried green tomatoes. Google green tomato pie and lots of stuff will pop up!
Finally, if you want parsley, sage, rosemary and thyme (think Simon & Garfunkel) for your turkey, email me and I’ll have it for you. I’ve brought most herbs inside.
